Large Country garden in Sussex
This large country garden in the Sussex countryside was designed using large circular lawns and meadow areas mixed with sinuous paths. The idea was to unite the garden into the surrounding rural landscape. Beech hedging along the circular lawn defines the garden spaces and provides structure all year round. The garden is predominantly south-facing with clay-ey soil.
The garden includes: a vegetable garden adjacent to a small courtyard garden, a large patio to entertain, a pond and a wildflower meadow with meandering paths.
The pond seats between two mature willow trees. Two large jetties create different angles to admire the garden.
Traditional materials are used with clay pavers and local sandstone for the paved areas. Instead of a dedicated area for sculptures, the choice was made to have sculptures scattered in the entire garden.
